Just finished today's writing--1,297, bringing the total to 13, 985. I'm not really happy with what I wrote today, though. It felt forced and bland as I was writing it. The problem is, there's a lot of action that happens in this scene, and sometimes action can be difficult to write without making it bland. It's like cooking a roast. It can be delicious, but it can also be really dry, and you gotta find some way of making sure it stays juicy and tender on the inside, which would be adding in more emotion or personality. But that's not always easy. I think if I went over it again a few times, it would get better. But I think I'll leave that for the revision process.
And now here I am, super-editing everything I'm writing in this post. I guess it's one of those days. Guh. Nothing is more frustrating to me (well, maybe) than bad writing days where I feel like I can't express myself clearly or I feel like I'm being repetitive or just writing badly in general. But hey, I did my words for today, and now I can leave it alone until tomorrow. I might try reading something today, and that might get me out of the slump.
Bleh. Must... not... edit...
